Avuá Copan Limited Edition Aged Cachaça is the first expression in a new limited-edition series presented by Avuá Cachaça, the leading artisanal, single-sourced cachaça brand. The Copan Limited Edition is the first of a resolutely limited wood series, made as an experiment with Craig Schoettler of MGM Resorts, and the venerable makers of Hardy Cognac. Each bottle is a finishing school for Brazilian wood aged cachaça rested in a Hardy Cognac barrel. The spirit filling each bottle is hand-crafted and aged over one year in tapinhoã wood casks, imparting toasted coconut and pine tree notes, then finished for six months in large barrels, adding the rich flavors of cognac. Only 600 bottles of this release will be available — it will never be produced again.
Situated in the hills of Carmo near Rio de Janeiro, Avuá Cachaça begins in the single-estate sugarcane fields of a small, family-owned farm, produced by one of Brazil’s top female distillers and using a family recipe honed over three generations.
Avuá Copan Limited Edition Aged Cachaça is aged for up to two years in super rare tapinhoā barrels and then finished in a large Hardy cognac cask that retains the cognac soak for six months. The unique combination of rare native wood and cognac finish produces a delightfully complex aroma and flavor profile unlike anything else in our range.
