Fermented at the height of summer to capture the pollens of the distillery’s garden, this single barrel whiskey revives the nearly lost flavors of Maryland’s Pre-Prohibiton whiskies.
Pre-Prohibition American rye whiskey involved two different styles. The first, Pennsylvania rye (known sometimes as Monongahela-style) is generally spicy, dry, and heavily oaked. Maryland rye, by contrast, is fruity, floral, and less aggressive.
Aged for two years in new American white oak charred barrels lined along earthen floors in our barrelhouse on Colorado’s Front Range, the traditions of softer fruit and floral notes shines bright in each and every bottle.
